Throughout our history many great men's sexuality has been in question. Alexander the Great, Michelangelo, and Abraham Lincoln are some of the greats who have never had the chance to visit or meet some of the other great gay men in fort Lauderdale.

When the A Celebration of Friends started in 2003, every one was frightened by us. Even though mature men and their admirers had been meeting for years at the Chiron Rising Gatherings or at the Mardi Gras festivities in New Orleans, Fort Lauderdale, and the major hotel chains just didn't realize our growing customer potential. Starting out at the Hotel St Pierre in New Orleans, we were invited to have a Celebration at the Wyndham in Fort Lauderdale Airport. Then, a month before the actual event, we were informed by the hotel that we needed to have a police escort during our shows Frida and Saturday nights. "Gay men in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and south Florida" were generally seen but only briefly we were informed and never for such a widely advertised world wide event. Our travels have been varied since then; holding Celebration where the entire hotel was homophobic, where the other guests were shocked to see men hugging, holding hands and even kissing was a major sin to them. (Even today we have gay men who refuse to kiss or hug each other and acknowledge their own gayness in public). But we fought and prevailed!!!
We've come a long way baby, and the ACOF is happy to be part of the journey and part of history as we continue to fight for full acceptance in our country and across the globe. Gay men meeting gay men, young men meeting old men, old men meeting old men, and ALL men meeting men is the mission of A Celebration of Friends. Fort Lauderdale in June? Warm tropical breezes, sandy beaches.
I love a place where I can get away wearing the least amount of clothes with my friends.
Can we say Haulover Beach? Tropics Piano Bar and Restaurant? Low stress? Meeting older men for older men? Browsing gay sites for older men? Gay nightlife in Fort Lauderdale?
